Bhabha Dlamini has been living
without an ID his whole life - He can't apply for an ID because his parents
passed away when he was 16 - Bhabha's only living relative lives in Namibia,
but he can't afford to fetch her to help him apply for his ID For 10 years
Bhabha Dlamini has been trying very hard to get himself an ID, but to no avail.
The
30-year-old from KwaZulu-Natal has been living with no way to identify himself
all his life. When Bhabha was 16 years old, he lost his parents. Unfortunately,
they passed away before they could help him get his ID. Since then it has been
a battle to get one. He lives in Nokweja, outside Ixopo and looks like he is
close to giving up hope.
Bhabha has tried to
apply at Home Affairs, but it is the same story every time. He needs a relative
because his parents passed away. Bhabha has one remaining relative, but she is
currently living in Namibia and he doesn't have the means to go ask her to help
him. He can't find a stable work without an ID, but without an income, he won't
be able to fetch his relative so he can get an ID. One of Bhabha's neighbours,
Ntombikayise Ntshiza, knew his mom before she passed away and often cooks extra
food for Bhabha. Ntombikayise hopes that Bhabha will be able to get help in
getting his ID soon. Hopefully, Home Affairs will be able to help this man get
his ID, it is almost impossible to live without one.
